As much as I hate to say it I think we can archive this thread. This project is done... It was so much pleasure watching it rise...

I'm sure there are still people interested in the official opening, the interior and the final look of the sky terraces

Not just yet, please. I haven't seen a single finished interior shot, view from the building, photo of people using the building, etc.

I've read on Archdaily's website that Shanghai is sinking. Also by the weight of their skyscrapers.

Between 1,5 - 2cm by year.

In a century, that's more than 1,5m (0.6 inches).

Hope that China find some solutions for that.

Is this the only supertall project currently under construction in Shanghai besides Sinar Mas Center?

Any new projects in the pipeline?

Zhenru Center (330m) and Xujiahui Center (370m) will start in the next 3 years; also Huangpu Donjiado (300m) could start in that time frame plus there are a few uncertain or long-term supertall plots. Thing is that Shanghai still has a huge amount of space available for development (as opposed to Shenzhen for example) so it is more economically for most developers to build in the 100m-250m range. Sooner or later this will probably change, especially as China gets richer there should be a huge demand for ultra-luxury residential towers in prime locations.

Also Shanghai already has a great skyline (and Chinas tallest skyscraper) and is know worldwide, so there is not such a big need to "show off" with huge single projects as opposed to some second or third tier cities.

The weight of the skyscrapers is much less than the weight of the soil that was removed to put in their foundations. Skyscrapers don't cause the land to sink.
