sure that would be a surprise but there's just no chance that will happen. And besides, SH is impressive enough the way it is and no businessmen care at all whether the tallest building is in dubai or shanghai.

Besides, a 900m tower would completely destroy the look of shanghai skyline.

Yeah, thats right, and a lot of buildings built in Shanghai is supposed to complement each other to form an extraordinary skyline. Too tall a tower will make it stand out too much and ruin the skyline.I don't think China is building towers to win the tallest building prize anyway.

i would like to make a model of this for my worlds tallest skyscraper display. its gonna be hard. what do floor plates look like?

According to my memory, the floor plates are circular. But they stop at 580m. The glass cladding continues to go spiraling until 632m.

A monstertall in Renmin Guangchang / People's Square would look very nice imo. Actually I think they should build a core of supertalls over that area.
