BD, Floor area 334,000 m2
ST, Floor area 380,000 m2 (this does not include below grade area.)

Difference is substantial, IMHO. Although, it is very subjective; aesthetically, I found Shanghai Tower a much better design.

looking at BD from bird eye view will show that BD's internal spaces aren't as big compared to looking at it from the side.

Hi all.

This is a great design - as is the Burj.

It will be fun watching the construction of this one. We get to watch from the beginning and the updates will be more frequent as things move along.

Now i wouldn't mind the east tower wasn't a twin of the west tower if the east tower looked something like this . Such an amazing tower, has the shape similar to the Shanghai tower but the appearance which would complement the west tower. Although im not too sure whether it would look so good with the height though.

That other one is nice too. The cladding reminds me a bit of the Gherkin.

The design of Shanghai Tower was made possible only because Adrian Smith jumped the gun and designed Burj Dubai back in the day, proving that such tall towers are possible to be build.

My 2008 VW has more options then a 2000 Mercedes S-class, so I guess Mercedes lovers and/or buyers are just after the size of the thing.

IMO Jiangyin Tower cannot be compared with Shanghai Tower. Design-wise the later is in a totally different league of excellence.

Absolutely agree with you.

Shanghai tower is super sexy.
ST is simply my best of all skyscrapers in my eyes.
Sad to say that the Jiangyin tower looks alike but is not a par of Shanghai tower.

Cheers!

I don't care to be honest. That has nothing to do with design. And I like the Burj. I just thing ST is something else.

Same for the Shanghai Tower, they don't need that kind of office space in Shanghai right now. Shanghai Tower isn't even as tall as the Burji, yet it is in "another league"? It's one of the first in a line of supertall towers, but it's still a skyscraper. It's going to be as equally impressive as the Jin Mao and SWFC are, nothing more, nothing less.

ROFL...

Design of ST is suberb, and in my eyes the best design of ANY building, including burj.

And onn, how is ST going to be equally impressive as any other skyscraper?? U think some 200m box is jsut as impressive as Shanghai tower? wtf?

You just made my point for me. People are impressed with Burj because it's so tall.

People are impressed with Shanghai Tower because it's a brilliant, organic and futuristic design.
