well at least in China the largest source of energy after coal in 2020 is expected to be wind .They are estimating energy generation of 100 giga watts from wind power .next to that would be nuclear estimates ranging from 45 to 75 gigs and close behind to this would be hydro power . Then you have several other methods that are currently under lab work.

Hong Kong has loads of large glass buildings that could generate a lot of energy with this new technique.

The Shanghai tower has an enormous facade of glass around it, it would be perfect if they could use the transparant solarcells for it.
China build maglev wind turbine if I am not wrong, this technology don't need spaces it can replace 500 to 1000 conventionnals wind turbine and can go up to 2 GW in electricity production. 2 videos of this technology for sustainable energy for chinese metropolis and others countries

okay bit more googling i got it.

Central park new york = 3.4 square kms

century park pudong =1.4 square kms

That i think is bad considering that shanghai is all set to become one giant untammable concrete jungle .

so every city without a big ass park in the middle wont work?

i cant see the different between having a few middle sized parks and one mega-sized park?

often smaller to middle size parks are used more optimal and that way you can save space ..

nothing against central park, its a really cool feature of New York, but dose every mega-city need it? absolutely not.

While having a large urban park in the center of Manhattan is great for NYC, it is not necessarily applicable to every other large city in the world. Manhattan is very condensed with extremely high land values, many people jostling to be able to build on the same amount of land. Shanghai has the ability to expand outwards, creating many small to mid sized parks along the way. Having a park 1/3 the size of central park in Pudong is not bad when one realizes that Pudong is merely the central business district of sorts, and Shanghai as a whole extends much farther, with more green space.

I will say that Shanghai has too many little parks. Little parks are of little or no use, all they do is put distance to where you are going. That park behing the Hong Kong Center and Yan an road has got to go! What a waste of space in the middle of the city. While they are at it they should cut People's Square/Park in half. That being said, I think that a few huge parks are a good thing, somewhere where you can run a few miles without worrying about getting hit by a car. I think the EXPO area should be turned into a park after the EXPO is over.

Yes that is my whole point .What we need is a huge park and not bunch of scattered small parks where you can still hear cars honking .and smell the burning petrol .We need a park that is as huge so suddenly you can enter a new environment and probably move around for few miles without worrying about traffic and the old whole concrete jungle phenomenon .Small parks are just like holes in the city planing and serve no real purporse.

Sorry but that's not true. Cities with many small parks are much more pleasant. You simply can get away to a park wherever you are since one is always nearby. If there is only one (huge or not, doesn't make much of a difference) park, getting there for most may be just a weekend activity at the best.

yes 10 RMB incase you are talking about century park .

The problem is If they make it free .Then you will see a large number or poor people coming and settling down in these parks .So to ensure that does not happen, they put a price on it .

Which in my view is disgusting but we finally have to accept that China still is a relatively poor nation .

Yes. Shanghai tried to introduce free entrance to most of its parks. But it had to start charging small fee to keep them in order.
