Any qualified guesses as to when this tower will start rising from the (currently non-existing) hole?

So, let's say the tower starts rising in the fall of 2010, and is topped out by winter 2012-13. That gives it 1,5-2 years to finish cladding and interior works until the official completion date. Sounds reasonable.

I would be nice to see it above ground when the Expo is on...

Even more so in your native Korea (some of the most identical commieblocks in the world, in both North and South)

BD's foundation is 50 meters deep and there's a rock layer under it so deeper than that wasn't necessary. Obviously in Shanghai the ground is different.

Building a building on mud is just not as easy as building it on sand and bedrock.

I would like to know if there is bedrock in 86m depth, or if they just use the friction forces of such deep piles!?

Hi Dennis. How you been keeping - miss your pic updates from when you were in Dubai.

The BD piles are skin friction piles as there is no bedrock at a reasonable depth under the location. I read that somewhere in my pile of info ...

Unreal amount and depth of piles for this thing. Wow
