Well, I just got back from the Hyatt in the SWFC. Even though the lobby is on the 87th floor and has a much better view than the lobby of the Hyatt in the Jin Mao tower, you cannot see the Shanghai Tower construction site from there. The lobby is angled slightly to the north away from the construction site. And because it is so high and the building gets fatter towards the bottom, the ground below is not visible
I took some pictures of the view, and by the time I went to the Jin Mao, my camera was dead. Don't worry, I don't start work until Sept 7 so I can go up this week and/or next week.

So, there's a Hyatt on the top floors of SWFC and also another Hyatt on the top of Jin Mao?

Yes,

SWFC = Park Hyatt
Jin Mao = Grand Hyatt

Obviously Park Hyatt is more expensive and much more modern. Tried both out earlier this year, 1 night at each hotel and Park Hyatt is far more awesome than Grand Hyatt even though it costs more!

Looks strange indeed. The far right yellow slurrywallcrane (or how they call it) looks out of the circle. Maybe there is a part where the wall wider so trucks full of dirt can drive in and out of the building side. Time will tell what they are doing....

Good progress here it would appear. Can't wait to see this tower above ground! The interiors look great, also! Very modern and vibrant, as you'd expect of course.

Here are some pictures that I took on September 7, 2009

It seems that they have outlined the circle but not much digging has taken place:

Heres a street level view, all the cranes in the picture were moving, so it looks like the project is coming along pretty nicely.

I as well thought there would be more digging then what the above pictures show. Have they finished the bathtub wall? Where does construction stand now? Sorry I've been out of the loop for a little while on this big guy.
