Mh, not really. To complete the analogy one should build something like a tower above the upper bun of bread using the chopsticks as a support. But why should anyone stick any object on a sandwich in an upward position? There's no reason to. First and foremost because it would be very inconvenient to eat. Come on. Let's abide with tradition.

Actually i don't find this hole not that deep at all, imo!

It's all about perception. If those people stand at the far side of the hole, I wouldn't say the hole is NOT that deep.
Anyway, I think this hole's diameter is gigantic.

yeah its deep when looking at heavy equipment in the hole, probably expected to be really deep
