I think by 2020 if shanghai zhongxin manages to stay in top 5 tallest buildings of China it would be a great achievement
right, the list of cities could go on and on. it won't even surprise me if a 700m+ supertall is to be built somewhere in China. my point is that it is enough for Shanghai to have the three giants in lujiazui area, and i am more than glad to see higher buildings in other Chinese cities. shanghai may not be happy to be surpassed as a city in the skyscraper race, but definitely should feel great as a part of the nation going forward--or shall i say "going up".

They usually cover the concrete in wet burlap for a while to help it cure properly.
BTW that's one humongous crane they have set up on the left side there. I wonder what they will be using it for?

Perhaps it will be used to install the main construction cranes?

Really. Looks like it's 80 meters long or in that neighborhood.

It looks like you could build another Hadron Collider in that hole. The shear size of it makes this impressive.

The plan to have 3 plots for a skyscraper cluster are very old. So i think it will stay at 3, unless some major structure in their proximity gets demolished.

i can't see any workers, just a few at the top of the picture. Do they really stop the work because expo??
Curing time. They will probably be back at it once the concrete has cured to a certain extent. They will probably do one last pour then let it sit over expo. With that much concrete being poured and curing, I would not want to be anywhere near that site. The heat must be absolutely intense, I'd say well over 110F in the hole. It was probably even hotter (200F) right after it started to settle.

The construction will not be stopped due to expo, this is the only exception during the period. I think.

If nothing else, count the number of underground floors. I looks like about 4. I'd say about 75-80ft. deep.

This gives me a deja vu from Chicago Spire. They also built a hole almost exactly the same as this one but than on hold. But this is China! :P. So probably won't be stopped.

SWFC was on hold for a few years remember. But that was then, barring some major economic calamity this one will go up no problem.
