The super columns rise all the way to the top of the building, which tapers as it rises. That is why they are slightly angled.

Architect Marshall Strabala views a model of his Shanghai Tower (left foreground), with Shanghai's skyline behind him. Slated for completion in 2014, the Shanghai Tower, will be located in the city's Pudong District, adjacent to the two tallest buildings seen in the left background.

this is awesome! im even more excited than i was. the model is indeed beautiful. btw, that building just to the left of the shanghai tower is the Renaissance yuyuan hotel. i highly recommend it. fantastic views of the pudong skyline from the top floor's infinity pool.

Just in case you had any doubts as to the ownership of those photographs, sheesh. What's going down at the foundation, some really weird engineering going on. Wow

This thing is the most intresting thing since the Burj, but its hard to see any real progress. Is it just me or are thay moving on really slow right me. By the way when is it sheduled to be completed? Hope thay wont have a huge delay, also like the burj.

I think, after installation of tower cranes we will see some real action.

I measured the hole in the google earth it is 120m width, so the tower at the bottom will be something like it.

Btw google earth has been updated, new images shows early stage of pouring.
