Thats wierd, cause we have multiple updates from there with full view of the site. Anyway, every update from jinmao is greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot

I guess those pictures were taken from other parts of Jinmao tower, not from the observation deck.

Ah, yes, now I noticed you took yours from observation deck. Previous pictures from jin mao were always taken from restaurant, so I geass its the best spot in this tower.

You should have a good view from the observation deck of the SWFC, or, if you do not want to spend 150 RNB, you could go to the lobby or bar of the Hyatt in the SWFC, which is freely accessible.

Unfortunately, when I was there, I did not look down.

That is what I regret very much.

Thanks for the update Wuhy_9!

I dont think you had to go all the way up to the observation deck in jinmao, you only had to go to the 56th level, the grand hyatt lobby to get a full view

edit: No you cant see shanghai tower from SWFC

Shanghai looks very cool and awesome now, but I believe the financial and cultural capital of rising 1.4 bilion China could be a lot better than this.
Thanks for sharing great shots.

For those speaking Chinese out there...wouldn't "中心" translate into "Center" rather than "Tower"? Can it be used for "tower", or did they simply decide to have a different name in English? If so, why?

中心 only translates as 'centre' - it would never be 'Tower'. Tower would be 塔楼. No idea why they changed the name between Chinese and English.

Hi all.

Great shots Wuhy.

It looks like they are very close to pouring the first level above the raft (level B4 ?).
Looks like they can pour the level above that (B3 ?) before adding the next sections of the supercolumns.

Awesome to see these early chapters of this project.

I guess it's what makes most sense in each language. 'Shanghai Centre' wouldn't sound right in English (as in English that would imply a geographical meaning which would be misleading). 上海塔, being only 3 words long doesn't sound as good as 上海中心, which in Chinese doesn't have the problem of being mistaken for geographical meaning.

I would say they can pour even two levels more before adding new supercolumns. Look at this:

It's really good thing because installation of supercolumns take a lot of time, and since it will be probably only two layers of supercolumns in the hole, the tower should rise out of the hole relatively fast.

Thanks moyan those are really good diagrams you've found there. Seems that all the circular floor-plans are concentric, and only the wall is asymmetrical.
