Dunno about ground level, the Burj has a pretty hefty base. What are the diameters at the base of the two in comparison?

Hi all.

Here's the sizes :
The hole is 116 meters in diameter as posted here using google earth. As near as I can tell from the site drawing the building will be ~95 meters in diameter.

The wings of base 0 of the BK (the largest and lowest) are 90 meters long from the center of the structure. So the diameter of the Y is 180 meters !

Yes the ST retains a large percentage of its girth right to the top where the BK tapers to a 1.2 meter dia. pinnacle. The base of the BK is twice the diameter of the ST but probably near the same in floor space ?

here is a side by side scaled somewhat acurately.

On another note, the site drawing shows "the extent of the basement" that is almost the size of the entire site. As in way bigger than the hole ...
I wonder if they are going to do a kind of top down construction outside the hole ?

I always thought that because this was going to be close to the same size the whole way up that it would be more imposing than the burj khalifa, but after looking at that diagram it actually looks somewhat small

The 'worlds highest largest width at the top' sounds strange.
Because that are to many catagories in one. First of all. There are broader buildings that are not that high. That sounds as crazy as 'tallest midget'.

I think skyscrapers that are wider on the top are more hardcore then skyscrapers that have smaller tops or spires. Buth then again; Spires ar more elegant.

And I personally think the Shanghai Tower has a better design then the Burj K. The Burj K. starts of nice and after 500meters the design gets a bit lost. Buth that's my oppinion.
You may all call my stupid for saying that, buth what the hell...

BK was completed in less then 6 years since the ground breaking, I'm sure ST would be even faster.

not necessarily, st is built on a swamp, plus if st weighs more like it a pears to that wouldn't hat mean more time bring up materials to the top of the tower?
it also has double facade

Hi Altin.

Let me fix that for you.

Excavation begins - 03 11
Inauguration - 10 01 = 6 years / 2 months
Completion 11 ?? = 7 years / ? months

I know - I'm **** .....

The pace seems to be very fast so I would also say the ST will be completed in less time than the BK.

I think the figure of 5 Million sqm was quoted, that I think is bigger then the space on the main BK tower, but less then the overall space including the the two annexes.
