the core is planned to reach the 12th floor by the end of the year, so I think the pace is ok.

A picture from yesterday.
You can see a small part of the core between the two towers.

It will be interesting to see those super-column sections get flipped up into position...

cool_wind in Gaoloumi forum posted the floor heights of Shanghai Tower.

B1-B5: 6.4m, 6m, 4m, 3.6m, 4.4m
1F-6F: 6.4m, 5.66m, 5.58m, 5.58m, 5.68m, 4.5m
Standard floor: 4.5m (low zone), 4.3m (high zone)
Refuge floor: 5.35m, 4.5m
(http://www.gaoloumi.com/viewthread.p...ge%3D1&page=79)

so, if the data is true, the core now is about 23m tall.

From yesterday:

I hate to say it but I was really disappointed with the feeling of the area. From far away it looks like the center of action but when you get there it seems really cold and quiet. The skyscrapers themselves are very impressive. I felt like I was in a big field with skyscrapers along the edges. Hopefully they'll fill this place in with some density, maybe some street vendors, shops, etc. It looks like in time they will make this possible and get more activity buzzing in there.

Yeah that is an ongoing discussion point. I too found it nicer to walk around on Nanjing road. You have the busy city around you and in the distance you can see the high skyscrapers from Pudong.

The length of the side of the core itself is 30 meters, which is the same scale of some skyscrapers, like the Princess Tower. So you can hardly call it small.
