Goldin Finance 117 in Tianjin is closer in height than the Chow Tai Fook Center, though the latter is of course a bit further ahead in construction. Culwulla could make a "China's giants" diagram with all 500m+ projects that are under construction...

The basement of the ST isn't just the120 dia hole, i think. And the super-columns have reach the ground level for quite a long time.

Wow, first to see this, thankyou.
But something is wrong. I remember only 8 of the 12 super-columns will reach the top.

It may be a stupid question, but people won't be able to walk to the glass on each floor and look down? Are there any renders that show what the view will look like from a room? I think it will be like looking out of a bird cage.

This pic also shows how they'll support the mechanical floors (steel, and not concrete), basically huge huge steel girders hanging off the core... not concrete and rebar like the Burj Dubai.

i'm sure they'll use a normal Climbing-Formwork at the higher floors, i really can't imagine this Scaffoling rising 128 storeys into the sky

Staggering to think of how much steel they'll use on this entire build!

Is it me or does the core of the Shanghai Tower almost seem as wide as the Hyatt in that photo ?

Which Hyatt? haha. I honestly hope that Hyatt buys out the hotel zoned space in Shanghai Tower...

Hi all.

Great find Oasis.

I too think they will be using self climbing forms.
The structural member drawing does show some cool design features.
Frick - not enough time some days ...

The amount of steel in this reminds me of 2 things: 1. the birds nest stadium in Beijing, 2. That new 600m communication tower in Japan (which I actually think looks rather ugly and like bad scaffolding). In the case of this tower the steel will at least not be visible as the entire building is encased in glass. I love a lot of other Japanese skyscrapers - but that tower could have been so much better imho. I'd think it would have been better to use that space and put in offices / flats / hotel accomodation all the way up. Just building a 600m white giant of an aerial looks ugly and wrong.
