No, actually. SIFC was supposed to be haulted, so was the Mandarin Oriental. Both are finished/almost finished. Several other buildings have continued to be constructed, including this one.

Well, as I know, all the constructions around the EXPO site are virtually stopped.

Well, well. SIFC is done, CITIC twins are done too. Also the Taiping Tower and the China Merchants Mansion are practically completed.

Besides of the X3-2 plot (foundation on going), the Shanghai Tower is Lujiazui's last plot. The only exception could be the Shipyard Development Phase 2, the KPF's gate-like tower.

And after that? Where will they build future projects? I don't think there's a suitable area for a new decent CBD unless they build it very far away from the city center (that would be disgusting, I really hope they wont do that). Nanjing Xi Lu is also running out of plots, they may release more 200m+ towers northwards, around Beijing Lu and around the Suzhou Creek.

So where shall they build more towers after 2015?

- They'll demolish the residential ocean next to Lujiazui to enlarge the current CBD eastwards. That would mean tens of new plots, but that's a lot of people to relocate.

- In Hongkou, around the White Magnolia project and eastwards. Or even northwards, around Sichuan Beilu (many 100m+ towers recently), Dalian Lu (stale proposals of 250m+ projects), etc

- Putuo, since they said they are planning a large financial area over there. Too far away from the city center though. Zhenrufu Center is the only big project there by the moment.

- Huangpu. There're several large redevelopment proposals close to Nanpu Bridge and all around Nanshi and up to Xintiandi. See Gensler's Huangpu masterplan, etc.

- They'll simply release isolated 200m+ towers anywhere within the Zhongshan ring road, like those in Yanan Xilu, the BM Tower close to the North Station, the Xujiahui towers, etc.

Thanks for the summary

Sooner or later i think the highrises in Lujiazui is going to connect with the highrises at the other end of the Century Avenue roundabout with the eastward development.

I really hope they would preserve those old residential houses near Sichuang road though, my childhood memories are there ><

Btw one of my parents' very very old apartment (those 6 stories one) in Zhabei district is to be torn down and redeveloped, we actually get quite a lot of money 200k USD, considering it is old and crappy and no one lives there.

Quadruple pulley system. Damn that is a lot of mechanical advantage.

I am going to have to go with 3 or four. They have great lines and don't look like your typical sky skrapper
