It's weird to think I used to hit golf balls across that block...
Oasis - which building did you go up to take that night shot of the site? It's fantastic!

I heard from TV reports there were unlicensed workers at the building under renovation that caught fire. Plenty of construction materials are flammable. The key is whether the workers know how to deal with such situations and put the flames out asap.

I heard from the survivors of the fire complaining workers throwing lit cigarette buts everywhere on the floor. That could have possibly caused the fire on the scaffolding. So i think its more of an ethic issue than simply whether they are qualified or not.

Which does not really solve the problem mentioned in the original post. Stuff can happen. Then again I think that supervision on such an iconic project is tight, way beyond what was going on at the fire site. Maybe that will be sort of a guarantee. I remember some harsh punishment when workers were caught smoking during construction of (then) Burj Dubai.
