Interesting for the workers living along the periphery to witness the tower they are building rise bit by bit everyday.

Hopefully they set up some time-lapse cameras.

Nice to see the crane jump, but I would be more intrested in how thay fit in the extra piece of extention? Did thay jack the crane from the basement floors?

Can some one explain my dumb question: how was the crane raised? How much time is needed? Do they have to lower the arm?
This one puzzles me since there is no mechanism near the top to plug in more sections for the crane.
Thanks,

Laojang

I always wonder how do cranes rise as well =/

Would be awesome if there was a set of photos capturing all the actions taken to get that crane taller.

The top tower of the crane can lift itself using hydraulic pressure and then standard block is inserted below and fixed.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen other cranes where the top section is thicker
than standard blocks. I guess that is where they insert a new section and
raise the crane. But this one does not seem to have such a section.
Also, when raising the crane, what will lift the new section, the crane it self or another crane? How to maintain
stability?

Thanks,
Laojang

Nah .. doubt they can afford to have computers with their salaries.

Seriously, we need the Shanghai-based forumers to take photos from the same spots so we can piece together a time-lapse in a few years.

Not on topic, troll. We've had enough of that sort of things already.
