Ray the second picture posted is the final podium. It's been included in all recent PDF's by the designers and such. As for the final colour of the podium, I don't see it as merely a render feature. There isn't anything holding them back from that colour in the final. Perhaps a treated laminate of sorts. Who knows. With a project this big the sky is honestly the limit.

I like the old podium better, it fitted the tower more i guess. I read somewhere that the podium is going to be a world-class mall, i dont understand what more they can fit in there. Superbrand mall has all the mid-tier brands and IFC has all the high-tier brands, are they going to open another LV store merely 50m away?

Wow, wonderful, were not even have gone in the middle of the road already chosen SWFC and tower designs for longer than that. Can be great for Shanghai, and not wait to see the start of work on this one. It is one of the best.

Well this is Dubai and this color is goldish ...it's quite difficult and expensive to make a light brown like in the Chinese design

It's the same colour more or less, plus it doesn't matter, it can be done.

The chinese are buying up all of the scrap metal from around the world at the moment (forcing prices higher than ever). So if they wanted to, they can do it in real copper. No problem.

Why would they do it in copper, that is a very expensive and soft material, when they can use aluminium?

Ah that's why collectors come at my door every 2 weeks asking for scrap metal. And also why they're cutting the copper wires of the train tracks, because of towers like this...

I didn't say they would, just that they could if they chose to. By the way copper is non ferrous and would be a good roofing material. Roofing felt is also a soft material, as is lead.

there will be no copper .. Aluminum is the most spread used material ,copper is an unpractical material for many reasons that I do not wanna get into now..how did we got to this topic anyway, I to be blamed for that.

Actually copper is an ideal roofing material and has been used on large buildings such as churches for many years, due to its malleability and it's resistance to rust. The only problem here would be it's tendency to form verdigris meaning it would turn blue green pretty quickly.

You are amusing

Copper is an excellent conductor of electricity (we are building a SKYSCRAPER not a CHURCH !!!!)
Besides electricity, copper also is an excellent conductor of heat, making it an important metal in cookware, refrigerators, and radiators (BUT not a SKYSCRAPER !!)
PLUS - it's to HEAVY for an roof - Aluminum is lighter !!!! (This is why it will be built out of ALUMINUM !!!!)

"we are building a SKYSCRAPER not a CHURCH "

We are talking about the material to cover the PODIUM roof, not the whole skyscraper.

Why do you refer to coppers conductivity? If it's because you misunderstood the word 'malleabilty' this just refers to coppers ability to be shaped easily without cracking.

We already have a material, it is called ALUMINIUM. Why in the hell would still be going on and on about the use of copper?

We got into discussing the suitability of copper as a roofing material, not whether it would be used on this tower. I don't suppose it will, but we shall see.
