Sorry for double posting, but does anyone else remember the days when this baby was suppose to be 1903 ft tall and 118 floors? Those were the days.

Anyone have any idea about what page the announcement of more height and more floors happened on this forum? Id love to see everyones reactions

That tower looks very similar to IFC HK lol. Yes it was designed by the same person but still, its almost like building two of the same building, with IFC being a lot more grand.

Shanghai Tower is in category of its own, the only towers that come close to this design are the look-a-likes that have been proposed in the second tier cities around China.

Yeah, you can instantly recognise pelli...

That tower mentioned borrows a little from 1CS here in London, which borrows greatly from a tower in NYC, of which I forget the name.

Comparing the Shanghai Tower to the Mecca Clock Monster is like comparing DaVinci to my dog's turd.

Exactly, 1 World Financial Center is very similar to 1 CS. I believe that both also were commissioned by Olympia & York.

Not that big…
See those supercolumns? They indicated that how big the inner layer (floor slabs) would be.

Ok maybe my drawing is pretty bad, but arent they laying steel bar beyond supercolumns too? See the two supercolumns on the right side, you can see a few vertical steel columns..

The supercolumns are well inside the outer edge of the building.

This is somewhat similar to the question I raised on an earlier post in which I asked why those particular steel columns (the light colored ones) appeared to be so small for such a large structure. It was explained to me that this is actually for a part of the base of the building which I think they referred to as the podium but that it won't be very tall and isn't included in the main structure that will be 2073 ft tall. That seems to make sense to me. If you go back several pages you can find some artists's renditions of the bottom portion of the building which is much different than I had expected and I believe that it supports the idea that the supercolumns actually are the boundaries for the highest portions of the building.
