Construction on the core is really ramping up. It looks like the steel frame for floors 13-16 are already in place. It seems that once the frame is in place for a new floor, it takes the workers about 2 days to complete it. So by the end of the week I think I can predict with some certainty that floor 15/16 will be completed.

Yup, most shots are taken from that direction, which is right under Jinmao, looking at the tower.

A little buzzkill on the excitement:

The above ground floor area of each of the world trade center towers was more than this will be. I say this because even though it seems like buildings are getting bigger and bigger so fast, if you step back and look at the numbers it's not as much as it seems.

The cheese grater next door basically ties WTC

Buildings aren't necessarily getting bigger they're just getting flashier.

I can finally see the top part of the actual building from my apartment, which means it's over 15 stories right now (not the actual core but the steel frame).

w00t. very exciting. I will post pics tomorrow.

I wonder what they're getting per square foot for office space over there, in US dollar equivalent.

Yeah and they also have less floors for their height, which means they are nicer buildings with higher ceilings, not cramped 80's style 8 foot dropped ceilings. A few of these buildings, judging by the numbers, prolly have as much as 12 foot ceiling heights (plus a few feet between floors), I'm sure quite a few have 10 or more.

Yeah why is this thread so dead? If this was in the US there'd be a post every two seconds probably. But there's only a few people who can provide updates on it. When more people are witnessing how nutty tall it's getting and find out about it it'll get more attention.

If this was in the US people would be going nuts. I wonder what city would be the most likely to have something like this. It would look so out of place in NYC or Chicago.
