No, it wont. Their planning for a 2014 completion. Unless somehow they double their construction speed while still building everything perfectly (a building this big has no room for error), theres no way this thing would be complete by next year. Topping out? Possibly

You won' be able to see it from that angle, the view will be blocked by Jinmao Tower. Pudong's skyline is completely in a mess.

Yeah, basically, by the time it gets that high it won't even really be a core anymore. Is there a mountain or significant hill near pudong that would be a good place to view it from? I just saw a pbs show where they took a steep tram up a mountain in Shanghai overlooking the city, but it was not the part of the city (pudong) with the jin mao and the cowbell

It will not be blocked by the Jinmao from that angle!

It will be to the right of SWFC and Jinmao in that view...

There are no mountains in Shanghai, the city is built on the alluvial plain of the Yangzte river so is very flat! I think the highest hill is She Shan and that is way to the west of the city (way past hongqiao district) and even that is small (perhaps 50m high?)

Shanghai Tower is one street across to the right of Jinmao, so it will probably block 1/3 of SWFC in that angle.

I was wrong, it will be partially blocked by SWFC. anyway, people hate the idea of building 3 super highrises next to each other

Perhaps some people hate the idea, but there will be those who like the idea too. IMO I can't wait to see these 3 supertalls standing next to each other in 2014!

Also it means a good amount of the view in all the towers will be obstructed. However, I think it looks cooler to look out a high window and see other buildings and far stuff than just an empty horizon. Actually it's a lot cooler to see an other huge building next to you than nothing. It's cool to watch highways from above, too. It's like seeing a computer render sometimes.

So Jinmao and Shanghai Tower will always be in front of SWFC.

You got it, that's a pretty bad news for the observation deck of SWFC, people there will be unable to see beyond these two towers

I agree. The best skylines in the world are composed of tons of buildings all overlapping each other. The picture below shows that many more buildings are needed to achieve that effect. It already looks great and will look even better when this tower is added to the jumble.
