Great shots! What tower is that taken from? I was thinking Shanghai IFC, but not sure the more I think about it. Hope we'll see more from that vantage point.

I'm thinking that as well. Can't be PRT, IFC is in the way.

Hi all.

Great shots Rinch.
Looks like alot of top down work going on outside the circle. a steeper angle would show if they are down more than one level yet.

I'd assume a more deserving tower for WTB. IS there a place for tower vs. tower? If so, I'd like a link please lol.

But on topic, this thing is really getting impressive. Not that it wasn't before, but now casual people (as in people that don't care for architecture and skyscrapers like us) can walk by and they can know... Something big is about to happen

I don't think so. I don't like all these 'West vs China' stuff anyways. Its more like 'China being China' i guess, building big, monumental, strict layout type environments like Pudong etc. Just look at their history, Forbidden city and temple of heaven, all very big, strict layout etc. Same in this case. So NO! The west is not being well and truly surpassed!!!!

Temple of heaven is not very big, you might confuse with the Summer Palace which is huge indeed. The great wall and the forgotten grand canal are other examples of mega projects china has done.

Now, while watching the tower rising, people will realize that Shanghai Tower is not just a supertall under construction... its a supertall under construction right next to two other supertalls!

And with its height it can be seen as not only one supertall, but two supertalls stacked on top of each other!

They'r using a top down method for the underground floors, in which case those holes are probably for passing down material.

Not to start anything, but certainly the general consensus is anyone could throw on a 200m spire of mech and call themselves the victors. I feel like the more the whole tower uses it's floor space, whilst being tall, gives it more street cred.

True, but then Shanghai Tower would lose some credibilty for it's glass outer wall. The actual floor space is only the cylinder inside the glass, quit abit less then what the Tower is preceived to be.

The basement floors/foundation are a lot bigger than just the circular part. The Pingan WFC is the same way. It takes a lot more than just that relatively tiny circle to support such a structure. Just having the circle part would be like having a flagpole just stuck in the ground without concrete around it.

What's interesting is that the Pingan buildings have the SAME circular foundation but are square buildings. That disproves the fact that the circle is solid evidence of the design. The tilted vertical beams, on the other hand, are proof of the twisting design.
