if you check the construction pictures of SWFC, it had similar circular foundation as well. it is not uncommon.

the circular foundation might not be an evidence of the gensler design, but the layout and the blueprints are.

Or 8 relatively short buildings stack upon each other? XD

Hi all.

Hi Matt.

I respect that opinion.
I won't get into the need for a spire and pinnacle on the BK here.
Most tall buildings have some amount of space on top that is not used by tenants. Whether it is a spire or an architectural (read ornimental) piece as is the case for this project, I believe they add to the structure in an aesthetic way.
As for the tallest being the victor, I don't look at it that way at all. There are many aspects of a structure making it great - height is only one of them. Albeit a special one - afterall our love of tall structures is what brings us together here.
Peace.

Ray.

Agreed. The spire is a part of the skyscraper; without the spire, it won't be hat it is. In the case of BK, it will look like the world's largest ***** without the spire.

This is going to be taller than the pentominium, and the pent looks a little bit further ahead in it's construction. What's the betting that this one tops out first.

Of course it will it's China where they need the space vs Dubai where they're just building too many supertalls that they don't need. Pentonium has been progressing very slowly, it might not even get finished, who knows. I'm sure some of the Dubai supertalls won't make it.
