On every page there's someone who says that the core is so huge it could be a highrise by itself. On this page it's me.

On that last picture, that crane in the foreground. Is it for Shanghai Tower, or some other project?

Wow, they erected a crane for the X3-2 plot already! Hope we can confirm its design soon.

I just realized that I didn't like the location of that tower. It's on the border of the CBD with residential area on it's east. Would have been much better if surrounded by other office towers with better design than residential towers have.

I realized the same thing. Perhaps those residential towers can be demolished and be replaced with taller towers of a better design!

Oh, pish posh. You don't just go around demolishing relatively new and perfectly good residential towers. Then again you were probably joking, so all's well.

It was a hypothetical, idealist statement. I'm sorry if it wasn't clear.

I wouldn't go for taller towers. I hope they would be shorter infact, so that you can actually see more of the three supertalls, and other towers like century etc. They have already made the mistake of building too tall towers towards Oriental pearl, hence covering all the towers behind century park, please don't make the same mistake again Shanghai!!! Again, as a forumer had said, its just idealist thoughts, its too late now since they have built these residentials, since they aren't commie blocks, they are prob built to stay for a long time.

While I understand your point for my brain's aesthetics it would have been better if those towers were higher and more modern so that the height and architecture gradient/difference between them and the Shanghai Tower would not be so steep. Anyhow, the important thing is that this tower is gorgeous and it would be a great addition to Shanghai's skyline.

I am lucky enough to be able to see Lujiazui from my apartment...when the weather permits (which is most days thankfully).
Some of the pics are bit fuzzy because the air can be hazy, and my camera is a bit finicky at night, otherwise, enjoy
(and the shots from the Shanghai Tower site are about 1 month old, sorry )

But the circular hole in the middle seams very small, so I don't predict any supertall there, maybe a 200 - 220 meters max ??

We expect 180-220m there. There're some renders published, but likely rejected proposals. Still no final design afaik unless you trust those who post random rumors with no sources.
