Hi Kix.

The Pentominium in Dubai also has no external construction elevators so far.

That's a good picture, why haven't we seen that before?

And I don't get the arcs/lines. At first I thought they were comparing highest floor to roof to peak heights, but that can't be because the line that starts as the peak of the Jin Mao ends randomly in the Shanghai Tower. So are they just three random lines?

It's been posted several times, lol. I think mostly before you joined this forum though.

The lines aren't random. Spend a minute or two looking closely where the lines travel.

Did they jump the cranes again, the cranes are just a little taller than the Thomson apartments now!

Well, they all bisect each other at the same point in the center of the SWFC, that's about all I can see. The thicker line is curved. That's it.

I keep thinking I see a pattern in the straight lines and their relativity to the curved line but I don't quite see it.

And if I'm not mistaken, the Chicago Spire would have been similarly constructed. (elevators inside core)...seems to be an effort to conserve as much space as possible. If you build a cylindrical building, it HAS to be a bit larger to provide maximum space...maybe? Just guessing here.

All buildings elevators are located inside the central cores. What was being discussed was the lack so far of external lifts used to move up and down the work force during the construction process.

true, there are no elevators so far. Also, can someone tell me how they can complete a floor? ie how they tip concrete to form a floor/level without the concrete seeping through down below? Do they use quick set concrete or am I missing something crucial?

BTW, I think SWFC has elevators at its core and also some to the sides of the building i think, for safety reason. Also on that note, as someone has mentioned before about terrorist attacks, is Shanghai Tower built to withstand a plane? Ive seen the document for shanghai world financial tower and that tower was both revised upwards and restructured to withstand a plane. Jin Mao isn't since it was built pre-2001

Look at that building, you think it couldn't handle a plane? The twin towers were exceptionally weak, built in a time when they were going for total efficiency, that's why they were so square, large, and undecorated. Also, the stairwells were encased in gypsum instead of reinforced concrete and the core was exceptionally small.

Does the core of ST look exceptionally small!
Also, look at those supercolumns; I'm not saying a large jet full of fuel at full speed would be a mosquito to it, but it, but it looks to me like nothing could make it collapse with supercolumns and a core like that. Like it could not possibly collapse in that way, crumbling straight to the ground.
