Jin Mao mostly resembles the Chinese culture and it became a new cultural symbol of China economic growth and architecture, but the SWFC and Shanghai Tower could have been built anywhere, yet they are still very beautiful architecture (particulary Shanghai tower). So to me Jin Mao seems to be the most iconic

Well, Jin Mao could have been built in Taipei, Hong Kong, Macau or Singapore and still express the Chinese message. I think Jin Mao is a Shanghai only type tower, can't really find another city that could fit Jin Mao, just like how Petronas belonging to KL

But yes, Jin Mao is the best of the three

I can't wait until this tower finishes.

Thing is, at 630m, there will be a period of time where Shanghai skyline pictures will look ugly with the half built tower sticking out in the middle, when its done though, then that is a different story

Still just circular belt truss is constructed. Wonder when they will start construction of actual triangular shape truss outside the circle.

^I thought simply the facade was what made the tower triangular, and the actual tower itself was circular?

Regular floors are circular shape, but this particular is skygarden floor. Each of such floors are directly connected to the curtain wall so they have triangle shape, and therefore they can create this amazing skygarden atriums.

This building is even more amazing when you realize that many people still don't get the whole idea of the structure

Because that is going to be the floor of one of the sky gardens. The exterior glass wall will be attached to the 'edge' of that not the circular 'inner' floorplates

Hi Deep.

I think a project under construction, even during foundation work, has its own kind of beauty.

Hi Pat.

I don't think there is an outer truss.

It appears that the the curtainwall structural members themselves form the rounded triangular shape.

Are you saying that the rest of the triangular shape of the skygarden floor won't be constructed until they start construction of the curtain wall?

Hi Pat.

Not sure, but I don't see why those levels can't sit on the radial trusses (since they extend out to the outer wall) before the wall is constructed ?
