What's gonna happen to the ob. deck in the SWFC after this thing is done?

On a related note, there used to be in ob. deck in the Jin Mao Tower right? What happened to that after SWFC opened?

I can't imagine them having 3 observation decks literally right next to each other XD

Each observation deck has a different view. There's already three decks on Lujiazui already.

View from SWFC:

Jinmao Tower, Shanghai – What a wonderful view!!! by Sprengben [why not get a friend], on Flickr

And I think this is probably the view from Jin Mao:

Last but not least, this is the view from Oriental Pearl, looking towards PuDong:

It's all different.

Well they are right next to each other at similar heights. Were you expecting an African savanna out of one, while seeing a beautiful view of the himalayas out of the other?

I count around 21 floors built. Does anyone know the exact floor they're on?

The core is squared and I am expecting it to be in circular form −− like the Chicago Spire's. The rendering looks to be different from the work done so far. How are they going to retain the inner circular part?

The core will be square, the circular structure you see will be the main structure.

You think the Chicago Spire core would have been circular based on the hole, but that doesn't mean anything (look at Shanghai Tower here).

... however, the core would have circular but because the floors twist, and is easier to serve them properly with a circular one (look at Dubai's Infinity tower)

is the core supposed to get smaller towards the top? or stay like it. it seems that the core is also mostly for the elevators and wqith less need for that many elevators towards the top i can imagine a smaller core may be enough and more efficient

Yes, it gets smaller towards the top. As well as the building.
