Hi El.
Ya, Adrian Smith knows nothing about aesthetics ...

Hi Killer.
You can't.
Ray.

Yep in this case you can't. According to CTBUH the highest occupied place in burj is at 584m while in Shanghai Tower at 587m. So it indeed shows how ineffective this tower is since it loose even with its 200m lower chinese brother but hey we all know these towers are focused on quite different goals.

Ray.

To be fair, Adrian Smith's work isn't exactly THE most beautiful. I think he's getting a hang of things with Kingdom Tower, but for now he seems to be compensating for something.

Kingdom Tower is not particulary interesting building.

Gulf states seem to be only interested in dick waving ; their cities have been put together with little to no thought.

Wait I don't get what you're trying to say. Can you explain better/differently?

I'm going to go A little out of topic here.
Shanghai Tower almost has 2,000,000 views! Good job (for being famous!)

It was quite straight forward. KilllerZavatar suggested that Burj Khalifa being not effective as it is still has higher floors than both st and pingan ifc. I just pointed that out that actually Shanghai Tower will have higher occupied floors than Burj even though its 200 meters lower building than Burj.

haha wow, so then burj khalifa will soon lose a record for highest occupied floor, the only thing i did know was that the observation deck wasn't the highest in a skyscraper, but i wasn't sure about the highest floor, so me little stupid just checked wikipedia for a quick overview thanks for clearing it up though. kinda feels good to see that shanghai tower will get a record for itself, because it is one of these buildings that doesn't need a spire to be impressive and has one of the best locations in the world, which will make epic impressions on skyline photos.

Hi Pat.
Not sure where the 587 on the council site is coming from.
I don't know what level the council will call the highest occupied level in the ST nor what level will be their starting point.

The council calls the highest occupied level in the BK level 154 at 574 meters which is also the highest tenant level. The highest tenant level in the ST is level 120 at 556 meters.

The highest named level in the ST is 124 at 574 meters. There is an un-named level above that at 580. The bottom of the spire is above that at 596.

We shall see what the official numbers are, in the coming years.
I say, good on the ST if they do take the record for the highest occupied level.

Hi Sock.
The highest named level in the BK is 160 mezz. 3 giving 163 levels plus 2 U/G.
(I differ from the council in that I count B1 as an U/G and I count all of the mezzanine levels where they don't count one)
Any level count above that is a need to equate the added height to a continued level count which is totally unofficial and unrelated to the plans.

Hi Killer.
The ST does have a 36 meter spire.
I know what you meant - just pointing that out.

I freaking love the Shanghai Tower promotional videos. Although I liked the other one posted about 2 months ago a lot more then this one. The 5 split screens thing kind of bothered me. But every time I see a new render or video of Shanghai Tower, I just get more excited for it.

This truly will be an amazing tower.
