I just walked inside. It seems to me the security in office high rises in SHA are somewhat lacking.

But the price is ludicrous. I think I paid 150rmb for the ticket.

I was also at the top bar/club at Park Hyatt. They demanded 1000rmb(!!) for a window booth. That's crazy. It was free at the bar-stools though. Same goes for the top bar at Grand Hyatt, but the prices there wasn't all that crazy and I liked the atmosphere there better.

I dont think thats a crazy price at all. Park Hyatt used to be the world's highest hotel, you know the saying "for a top stay, you gotta pay". If this was in New York you wouldn't complain, right? Because people expect New York to be expensive. Shanghai is getting more and more expensive, and many foreigners just can't accept this because they are used to China being cheap.

I wouldn't recommend any of the bars in SWFC or Jin Mao whatsoever though. The bartenders can't make drinks and the live music is bad. Let's hope the bars in Shanghai Tower are better.

In fact, living a luxury life in Shanghai is probably more expensive than living a luxury life in NY.

Paying 150RMB for a cup of coffee and some ice cream at lvl87 Hyatt Cafe is so much more enjoyable then to visit the crowded 100th floor.

The bar on the 88th floor of Jinmao is pretty good.

Yes. I think luxurious things and western things can be priced higher in china since the difference for rich and average is very steep. I have seen chinese people pouring Fanta into a a glass of cognac at 3000rmb per bottle..

My personal favourite are the pianobar at 52nd floor IIRC. The drinks wasn't shabby either. The long Island was one of the best I've tested. Edit: Sorry, that was at Le Meridien.

The first sign telling its core is about to shrink.

I think "shrinking" is not what will happen to the core. It will lose some of its square sections but I don't think it will shrink at all (in terms of its width at least).

That's ture, but the diagonal view of the core would be quite a change.

The core is like the willis Tower, nine square tubes making it one big core and at different heights some tubes will stop.

Well as the building rises there is less a need for elevator shafts.

I have a question, do the floorplates look small to you?

Don't think this one has been posted before...

This side of Lujiazui (and also from a more elevated position) is so much nicer in my opinion
