Is it due for another crane jump?

Looks like the concrete core is now being narrowed. This will make more room for the upper floors.

Will it? Looking at the renders it is obvious that the tower (not just the core) is getting narrower higher up.

Look's like it's time! They better hurry up with it, though, cause I wanna see that form slip rise!

Edit: Saying that actually made me realize that they might not jump the cranes until they finish making the slip smaller. But I don't know that for a fact. Does anyone know exactly what they'll do?

They can't make the slip form smaller until they've raised it above the level of the core, and they can't really do that until they raise the cranes. I think.

Don't quote me on any of this but what they should do is:

1. they need to jump the cranes so the can lift the form work up.

2. Then they will lift the parts of the form work that they will keep for the next setup

3. They will either get rid of the other parts of the form work that is no longer needed or they may reconfigure these pieces and then raise them.

or 4. They get rid of the current form work and bring a new one in.

Again you. Listen, if you write the same thing a few days, refrain from posting messages like: Nice updates, Nice shots.

As an illustration, look at the Burj Khalifa. Its floor area isn't much greater than that of some smaller skyscrapers (Wikipedia says that the Sears tower has approx. 100'000m2 more floor area than the Burj) I think , but it still has a very wide base, which makes it an inefficient use of space. Some people have pointed out that the Shanghai Tower's core is too big, and therefore it limits the tower's useful space.
One thing to bare in mind though is that floorspace does not have a set value, generally if its nearer to natural light will be worth more and a tower with a large core will have more of that as a total percantage.

This is espeically true for hotels which typical seem to takeup alot of space in these ultra high buildings.
