why 500 extra foot , wouldnt it be tall enough at that height?

Even though it isn't, it comes off as almost twice the height of Jin Mao's roof height in comparison, so I think the current height is more than enough.

awesome this was from the moment i saw all the proposals by far my favourite with SOM coming in at second then fosters is there a known date of when the winner will be announced its been such a long wait!

agree totally 600-650m is enough and a very impressive height!

This design is not bad...

...just so incredibly kitsch.

It reminds me of the Taipei101.

BTW, the final design is just classy and elegant. The best choice, IMO.

Looks like it has higher habitable floor than burj dubai. BD's being top habitable floor being586 metres high.

thats not true, 586m is the top of the concrete section. the highest floor is 701m or floor 185. and the top 110m+ of this building doesnt seem to be useable anyways
