Taken today, all those photos were heavily enhanced. Yeah, pollution is indeed this bad…

By the way, it is a supertall now.

They have digged out nearly a million cubic meters of mud, and the whole structure weighs around 800,000 tons, so do the math.

So what about the cladding? It was mentioned numerous times that the cladding should start at the end of May? Later someone said it was delayed. So when are we going to see the glass?

There are over 2,000 piles in the ground for support. The structural engineering firm Thomasetti knows what they are doing. THe buildings not going anywhere.

For me that is the most interesting construction site I've ever watched!
It's already an icon!

Complicated facade solution and shape of the tower makes it, possibly, the most complicated skyscraper ever. Among other things it will be a monument to structural-engineering.

Yes, like an onsite campus/dormitory. Some are offices (for contractors, etc).

It's like one of these stacked

Good news, the latest steel column reaches 303.4m, it has already becomes a supertall.

Bad news, probably we won't see the cladding until July. It hasn't been confirmed though.

Is it true that pollution is least bad during summer? I'm coming over in summer, I hope it's not this smoggy, and I hope it isn't raining every day.

Last time I was over in winter and it was beautiful, except 4 out of 21 days were smoggy.

yeah Shanghai, has some of the same problems that Los Angeles has. During the Winter both have clear days, LA because its the rainy season, and Shanghai because smog and haze need heat and little wind movement to form both naturally, and human made. I believe Shanghai is boxed in by mountains also so that doesn't help either.
