Of course we cannot compare skyscraper with some "simple" TV tower, but the media and the world is interested only in "the most", "the best", etc., nobody cares of the difference of some simple antenna and normal roof, what is much harder to build. So I hope Chinese will add one more floor to surpass Tokyo
only few supertalls will be built in Japan because of the earthquake
i do really hope more projects can be carried out in Japanese cities like Tokyo and Osaka.

Hi All

I rarely contribute here; but I've been fascinated by the construction of this formidable tower.

It is my favorite supertall going up now - truly an incredible feat of engineering. And so graceful. Reminds me of a piece of paper rolled up with corner pulled up slightly.

Anyway, is it fair to assume the outer construction elevator will rise once the 1st zone window framing is done?

Could you give the complete list?

Besides the Shenzhen Pingan Centre (660 m)?

How long shall Shanghai Tower be the tallest tower in China? When shall Shanghai Tower exceed 600 m (of the completed Guangzhou TV tower) and when shall Pingan Centre exceed the 632 m of Shanghai Tower?

The Caiwuwei Financial Center in Shenzen is proposed to be 666 m, and the proposed Erqi Area Project in Wuhan is set to 707m. Those are the only ones that would surpass the ST in roof height in China so far, I believe.

Maybe the 700m+ project in wuhan will top ST.
Hope we'll get some news about it soon

Thanks again for the images.

Love the close-up images of the construction site.

I bet you have other photos of Shanghai and post it on Skyscrapercity.

oh I always thought they transport the panels thought the inside because if they used the crane it would've been very time consuming. besides the cranes would be busy doing something else.

It's already a standout part of the skyline. Looks like some sort of monstrosity rising from the ground.

Huge and awesome. When I got to Shanghai I will take some photos and throw them up here.
