People in this forum are really getting crazy... 580m is not enough?!

The height is perfect and the dragon design should be built, the other one just looks like Russia Tower! Did Foster get his "Sir" for copying?!

Can you tell the difference between a circle and a triangle??

If so please stop saying foster is copying his own design. There are very very few similarities between this proposal and the russia tower, a circular base is a good start, a completely different floorplan and curved supports rather than straight ones. Sure he is using an exoskeleton style design, but this proposal is as similar to the russia tower as it is the gerkin!

Really? It looks similar to Russia Tower from the angles we have seen. I'm surprised you would say that.

Both look great IMO. Shanghai would be lucky with either.

I actually prefer this one to the Russia Tower. It's a lot more elegant.

@Newcastle Kid
it is. and i said i don't like triangle designs. and this one simply won't fit at all into pudong skyline. it will looks out of place. first design is somehow acceptable.

In places like this, designs don't always have to fit with the current buildings. Some differentiation isn't a bad thing. A good contrast would be nice. But again, I think both are great, Shanghai is lucky it has such a choice.

This is a skyscraper forum. Higher is better and I was hoping this would be at least 2000 feet tall.

Why do you think Burj Dubai is a sticky? It's the tallest under construction.

First one better, looks taller and can have higher habitable floors.

Maybe this is right after all, the "trio" has to be harmonic. Some time in the future, Shanghai will probably have a 600+ in another plot in Pudong. The tallest buildings should not be all concentrated in 150 square meters.

I think height is perfect. It will complete an amazing trio of towers, nothing like anywhere else. And yeah, I am sure Shanghai will not stop here, there will be taller towers in the future pipeline.

And I like them both, they are both innovative. But if I had to choose I think the spire, the second design, complements the other two better.

Now that Lujiazui run out of plots, where do you guys think that they'll build more supertalls in the coming years? Maybe they should plan a new CBD somewhere, probably close to the World Expo area.

Lujiazui running out of plots? What about that sea of lodgings with blue and red roofs just hundred of meters behind SWFC?

Well that's not a part of Lujiazui properly I think. And the renders of masterplan for the eastwards extension of the CBD show that the highest towers will be around 220-250m only.

Well it may not be Lujiazui proper, but it's very close, and any new tower would be well visible from the riverside if it's tall enough. Also masterplans are there to be changed...

I am somehow disappointed. I don't know why but I expected higher than 600m. Not much high but a little bit higher. I prefer the Dragoon design at the moment. I believe it will be chosen. I need see more pictures to judge, tough...
