Great diagram Varghedin! According to this the tower will be extremely huge. It´s massive already, but the complete tower will be a lot bigger.

What's amazing to me is that it is currently about the same height as the finished Shard. Looking at that diagram makes the final height look insane!

Whenever I think about Shanghai the Pearl Tower pops up in mind. For me the Pearl Towers importance to Shanghai is like the Eiffel Tower to Paris.

True that. Same here. Only interesting thing is that many people don't like it. And if you look at it individually it does look a bit tacky with colors and some other details. However as a part of a skyline it's brilliant and gives Pudong a very strong flavor of uniqueness.

Eiffel tower was also hated by the Parisians and others, upon it's inception for many decades after.

Such drastic designs need time to become accepted.

Honestly I think it is pretty hideous. Maybe they can try a different colour scheme but I don't know if it can be saved. Only good thing is that with Shanghai building so many tall scrapers the Pearl is obscured from many angles.

The worst building in the world, in my opinion.
It looks like a dog's chew toy.

And I can't freaking believe the tower isn't even halfway up already???

Is it going to have an observation deck? If so won't that kill the business of the swfc?

It will do to the SWFC what the SWFC did to the Jin Mao tower.

I hope not. The SWFC is in my opinion much better looking. China is growing too rapidly to allow a building to become an icon.
