That too. If it were in almost any other city in the world it would look huge.

May be off-topic:

Is there any place here, or elsewhere online, where I can get up to speed on modern CE and ME and Architectural techniques? I am/was no CE/ME/IE, but I want to find out more about modern building methods, super columns, and the forces and processes that go into designing these super and mega tall structures.

Chech out Discovery's "Extreme Engineering" program. They have alot of good stuff on modern day engineering. They had a program on the Shanghai World Financial Centre a few years back and did a episode on the Kuwait Tower a couple years ago too. Good stuff.

If you used a wide angle lens, the proportions could very well look like this.

Have they reduced the height? It's not the same amount of truss belts on diffrent renders. I made a comparison that i found on the architect firm's website gensler.com

huh???
ZZ-II's statement is still correct. Shanghai Tower WILL BE ~200m taller than Jin Mao, that's not a matter of perspective.

good.

Interesting information up there about the floor plans. The supercolumns that sit alone (not the ones in pairs), end somewhere before the 98th floor - anyone know what level they end at?

They are at 1:30, 4:30, 7:30, 10:30 in the above diagram.
