Once more it looks like cladding has started at the bottom of the first section (shimmer in the last pic).

I want to see those cranes do another jump but it is a bit soon perhaps. Core has slowed probably adjusting to a setback.

Very nice indeed. Shanghai must be the city in the world with most highrises(between 20 to 40 floors)?

Possibly because it's like 20x bigger than your average "big" skyline?

You're a braver soul than I...I've always thought that but was too afraid to point it out

no, but seriously, I really think the most interesting area of SH is People's Square. Lujiazui is just TOO eccentric atm.

Well, to be fair, I can see how it doesn't appear as cohesive because you would typically get a significant building every 3-4 years, right? But most of this stuff has gone up in the last 5 years or so (excluding Jin Mao and WFC of course).

Also, I consider SH's skyline to be broken up into three large clusters:
1) you have the area anchored around People's Square

2) the area clustered around Nanjing Road (literally sandwiched between People's Square and "The Bund")

3) and then Lujiazui of course.

Most people complain Lujiazui is a "dead area" but it's really just a huge construction site...so I'm waiting to make my final decision until it's kind of saturated (like 10-15 years down the line). At that point, I expect - once the infill along the outer banks of the Huangpu River is completed; i.e. in Hongkou, the Southern end of the Bund, and around People's Square/Nanjing Road - it will be much more "Centered" than it is now. Currently, it's a little isolated which makes it seem in such stark contrast to the rest of the skyline.

Me, personally, I just kind of dislike the Pearl Tower....I find it a little gaudy and it annoys me - though, I can kind of stand it at night. Everything else I'm okay with.

Lol maybe you should consider looking into Shanghai skyline a bit deeper, Shanghai does not just break into those 3 clusters. Click for my Shanghai photo thread

Come on guys just ignore him.. look at his user name you know he is just trolling lol.

sounds like your the one getting defensive here..? But to address your point about 'evening it out'. The best skylines tend not to have skyscrapers all of uniform height - just look at NY or HK! I like how in SH there are 3 supertalls of different heights surrounded by lower skyscrapers, especially with this fantastic tower being the tallest of them all! Would be good with a couple of 300-350m in there too though...
