Been away for a week back to Europe and bought a new compact camera, so thought I would give it a go this morning.

It's a shame the real estate bubble popped, because this looks fantastic.

On lowai's first pic it looks like the seventh row of glass is done already.

I wasn't expecting the outer cladding to be that transparent.

I am personally not a fan of the cladding, but I'll make judgement when it is higher up.

It is not perfect, but I think it will look a lot better when more is done.
I think the biggest improvement that could be made is if the cladding was on a slight angle following the curve of the building, but that would probably make it a LOT more complex!

Yes, at the moment it looks a bit weird...but if the inner cladding is installed it will look fantastic

As far as the appearance of the cladding is concerned I have the feeling that it was intended to be so transparent so that from a practical point of view you'd be letting in enough light through two walls of cladding to the interior of the building. Also, once the inside cladding starts going up I think it's going to create a very striking visual impression from both the inside and the outside. There's really nothing like it anywhere in the world.
Another thing that will be very interesting to see is how this building will look at night. I don't know how they plan to do the lighting but I'm sure that it will make a dramatic effect seeing the interior cladding lit up surrounded by the contrasting appearance of the outside cladding.

Does anybody know approximately what floor this tower has reached? I was in shanghai two years ago and this thing didn't even exist at that time...amazing how fast they've been able to build this tower. I need to go back when it's done! Amazing city!
