You can always pull up the page with the full sized image and source-download the image... then you get the full resolution picture.

Magnificent tower, great progress. When completed it will definitely be one of the best skyscrapers all over the world.

Excuse my ignorance, but has the core changed size at all? It appears that it's very big now in comparison to the floor space that circles it. When will it start being thinner?

My observation...guess...it looks like the "core" we see is also the floor space.

Yes it has and I believe it will change again soon (being smaller of course)

Nope, it's just core .... and while it IS huge, for obvious reasons, there is still enough space on the floorplans

Not always the case. Some buildings have utility rooms (ie, kitchens, bathrooms, storage) that are included in the core of the building. Not all of it is elevators and stairways.

I like the idea of putting the glass facade away from the main floors of the building. This building will look cool both inside and out...

Who designed the Shanghai Tower?

Its wonderful to read and see the enthusiasum for the well thought out design of The Shanghai Tower. The chief architect who designed the tallest building in China is Marshall Strabala (stray-ba-la). His 19yrs at SOM allowed his design contributions to the Burj and Nanjing Greenland Zifeng Tower. His four years as Director of Design chief architect on ST with Gensler afored the Chinese with his stellar design of this sustainable double- skinned structure with outstanding engineering support of Thorton Tomasetti.
Strabala has opened his own intl arch firm 2Define Architecture with offices in Shanghai, Seoul and Chicago. He is currently the chief architect of ST for the Chinese client, until completion as he is the author of this project.
Check out his flickr photo gallery and google for all those of talent looking for a job...I hear he might be hiring.
