If you exclude mech floors from the count, stories are less than 15 each section.
The sequence should be - counting from base - 11-12-12-13-13-14-14.
The count excludes mech floors and sky gardens.
Also, just think that sky gardens, at all levels, are sitting on the top of two mech floors, so I guess that too many sky gardens=too many mech floors=too much structural weight.

yep, and maybe even more than 421, which would mean Jinmao's overtaking.
And top of cranes seems to be almost at SWFC height, too.

Not sure, it's very difficult to say what's the current height

I forgot the name of the river, flowing through Pudong, but it looks like a very major shipway for boats,, at any thime there's 2oo boats floating around that peninsula.

So as for an update, and I could be very wrong,,, but not counting crane levels(their heights) but counting spire, and core levels.. Is this the current rank, #4 Jin Mao, 3# Oriental Pearl Tower, #2 Shanghai Tower, 1 SWFC? Or has ST taken over JIN and OPT's Spires? Just an honest question to see if the core of ST is 2nd Yet?I remember hearing that OPT's spire was higher than Jin Maos, even tho Jin Mao is considered a Bldg.. But is OPT's IS spire higher than that of Jin Mao, right?

The name of the river is call Huangpu River and you do know Shanghai is one of the world's busiest ports if not the world's busiest right? At least in the number of containers handled each year.

SWFC is 492 meters tall, OPT is 468 meters tall, Jin Mao is 421 meters tall, and as far as I know, ST is somewhere around 410-415 meters at the moment. And true, OPT is not considered a building/skyscraper, but we are merely comparing heights.

So to answer your question, currently, the tallest freestanding structures in Shanghai go:

1. SWFC
2. OPT
3. Jin Mao
4. ST, although ST will become number 3 here within a couple weeks.

Jin Mao = 421m #3
OPT = 468m #2
SWFC = 492m #1

So Shanghai Tower is still #4 for a few days .
