So Shanghai Tower is still #4 for a few days .
I wish they demolish OPT and replace it by a 800m+ megatall as an opposition to Jin Mao-SWFC-ST cluster. OPT looks outdated, doesn't fit skyline...

Nah, all they should do is replace the pink cladding with some silver and it'll look even better.

Well, today's New York would look pretty otherworldly to people from the 30's.

Oriental pearl tower looks great! 800 m skyscraper? Good idea, but in Pudong? What about Nanjing for example?

i personally think perfect would be a ~400m to ~500m twin structure next . i wouldn't say no to another new tallest, but i think in pudong shanghai tower will stay the tallest for quite a while. the surrounding plots should rise with a few more supertalls 300-400m too, so the whole area gets more dense, that's what i would love to see too.

Either way, this could be better than "super block" in dubai, but taller

They should build the Holozon next to SWFC and then construct an elevated metro line through the holes of the two buildings.

View this YouTube.com clip of Marshall Strabala, Chief Architect of the Shanghai Tower, talking about the incredible design of China's soon-to-be-tallest building.

Aired on ICS-TV in Shanghai in November 2012, the in-depth interview is from the Minds of Millionaires" program. (In English with Chinese on-screen subtitles.) Strabala has designed three of the world's tallest buildings -- the Shanghai Tower, Burj Khalifa and Nanjing Zifeng Tower.

Watch the video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5N1zLDFY3H0

You can learn nearly everything you want to know about the design and amazing technology behind this collossal, double-skin structure.

Amazing. Would really fit into the futoristic shyline of Shanghai. Is this is a (serious) proposal?

I just cannot get into Shanghai Tower. Perhaps things will change once it is completely finished, but Jin Mao is still my favorite in Shanghai. Such a gem.
