From comparison with Jin Mao and a bit of calculation I would say 660m.
If the model is correct...

Anything above 600m will be great. Shanghai would have a simply beautiful cluster of three skyscrapers (~600m, #500m, ~400m) with others around it at ~300m and the pearl tower which will form one of the most stunning skylines in the world!

Every time is a different height, but nothing is final.

Maybe they just wait for Burj Dubai to be complet, and then add 1m (with somme help from a huge spire of course) to surpass-it.

It won't even matter how tall this one is, the top will rarely be seen thanks to all the pollution. Maybe it was worse than normal when I visited Shanghai but half the time I couldn't even see the top of the World financial center. This one will look as if it climbs forever into the polluted sky. Too bad because it is a great design

Are you sure it wasn't fog? The city has a problem with fog, esp in the late winter months and spring.

Remember guys, talking about "skyscrapers" there's going to be a lot of people from ***** cultures tryng to translate their "personal" insecurities into a forum like this one. They're always going to look for the negative in everything.

I'm glad to hear that it was mostly fog. Actually I was there just a little over a week ago, so it must have been related to the flood season. And I didn't mean for my previous post to sound negative, I really enjoyed Shanghai. I just wish the visibility had been better so I could have seen more of the supertalls!

If you look good the open section(last part of the tower) is 50m high. If you compare it to the new tower, its tree times the top.
Notice that the new tower is standing further away in the model. If we must move the new tower forward in the model it will be even higher!

i scaled the oriental pearl tower which is 468m. on my screen it equals 52mm.
the shanghai centre measures 74mm, thus 468m dv 52=9 ,so 74x9=666m.
