C'mon guys we don't need to derail the thread just because of a post by someone who clearly doesn't have a clue.
BTW I am in favour to ban people who start city vs. city (or skyline vs. skyline) discussions outside of those "World's/Asia's best skyline" threads.

And Mitt Romney is POTUS.

----nevermind---

The tower is getting really tall now. I have to amdit it already looks quite imposing and we still got about 170m to go- crazy.

Height is not everything, although it does make a skyline more impressive. Many of the buildings in Dubai are ugly, and some the old buildings of NY are very grand and stately.

New York has plenty of ugly buildings as well. If you prefer classic buildings over modern architecture, that does not mean Dubai or Shanghai's skyscrapers are any worse than those of New York's. And Dubai Marina skyline is just as good as New York's skyline imo.
Anyway, Shanghai tower will be the one of the most beautiful supertall after completion.

ST is considered megatall. And SWFC and Jin Mao are supertall. And in general Dubai doesn't have that many. Dubai has 568, NY has 6500, HK has 7800. And i only said NY's tallest - the FT is the only one close to that group of buildings high as 2IFC, SWFC, Taipei 101 etc.

Wrong. No city has more supertalls than Dubai.

Here a supertall ranking: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22508016/Su...ary%202013.pdf

And now please talk about ST!

The core should now have reached level 101, where the next sky garden should be.
It's quickly going to get the 2nd place (after BK) in the world's highest occupied floor ranking, and this several months before topping out

Someone said it because it's the first belt without corner super-columns.
i don't think so. The super-columns are designed for wind resistant, not for belts support. The trust belts are for super-columns stiffening.
