I think you are talking about the suburbs or non Business areas. The residential areas surrounding the centre core are kind of dull. But the central area is very nice and diverse.

you are just basing your opinion on height alone. Dubai has a bunch of supertalls but it has a horrible skyline with no clear definition. NYC has the 2 clusters of skyscrapers separated by low rises and it still is appealing. Anyway, I think PowerofLondon's argument was that despite the good looking skyline, architecturally speaking, the majority of the towers are not aesthetically pleasing or just generic. Height does not equal architecture, but architecture can equal height.

I like the one with SHWFC in the clouds. The crane operator is sitting at 500 m altitude already.

Not really, it is almost like a park with skyscrapers. Nothing happening at street level. A pretty weird area.

Looked like there is nothing happening anymore at the contruction site, due to the Chinese New Year. So no changes the next couple of weeks.

Amazing contrasts. That low-rise area is quite dense.

looking at the lowrise area it looks like that area could be the next area for an expansion of the skyline. don't think the low-rise area cramped like that will stay for much longer in the always changing city of SHanghai
