Little Universe pic 14049, 1st 2 pictures, you can tell ST is still not aas high,, I don't think I've seen that angle before, seems like we get more from the other side where the perspective shows ST as taller.. Here you can see it clearly isn't..Well now that I look at it again it is DAMN close, since SWFC is slightly in foreground.. Awesome pics though, and welcome back lowai looking forward to the up close shots, now that Chinese New Year is over, I think. If not when does it officialy end? Also ZZ-II is there a rumor going around ther gonna add a few meters? I thought I read you and another member talking about it.

Why do you guys who take photos make them ugly by putting huge watermarks and text all over them? It's very easy to download any photo, whether protected or not as on flickr, edit out the ugly, and save it as useful and beautiful.

I don't know more than you here. Someone wrote that there are speculations about an height increase in a chinese forum.

Those photos are downloaded from Weibo. All photos uploaded on Weibo automatically get those watermarks.

Or you could upload yours so others can enjoy them, put them on as screensavers. You know, without the ugly watermarks.

But i doubt it too that there will be a height increase.

Just to make it clear: The tower is roughly halfway through the construction process, and well over 95% done as far as the structure is concerned. Adding anything to it now would require a recalculation of the entire tower, that is wind loads, weight (and its distribution), earthquake resistance, resonance frequency, everything.

There's a reason why designs almost never change after construction has started. Any changes of design would mean a change of forces acting on and within the structure. And the building is designed and built to withstand specific forces. Change the forces, and you might have to change the structure. What if you wanted to add another elevator shaft, and the added weight meant you needed another foundation pile? It's hard enough to implement that change once the foundation sole is poured. You would have to drill up all the concrete, add the pile, and spend a heck of a lot of money on just getting back to where you were. Similarly, adding a spire mid-construction means new wind loads, and new wind loads might require stronger beams to resist them. And if those beams are already built, you'd have to deconstruct parts of the tower, change them, and then keep going from that point.

Once construction has started, the design should be final. Perhaps you'd have to halt construction while the new calculations are being performed and the schedule is being planned again. This means you have to cancel a few delivery orders, swap around worker schedules, pay crane hire for longer, etc. Perhaps some building equipment is already leased away elsewhere after their job is done on your construction site. It would be mightily expensive to hire them again, especially if the machines and their crews have a tight schedule.

In other words, don't expect anything to be added to design at this point. Any changes are considered last-minute even if they are proposed a month before the diggers arrive at the empty construction site. Now that construction is almost finished, it's simply too late to change anything.

SWFC changed its design after the entire foundation was laid
