The best things about the building is not its height, its the twisting shape and the drop dead gorgeous cladding. Also it is so perfect that it is in the middle of shanghai.

I love this tower, it's desing, it's shape, height and curves. It's a 10/10 building
Trying to pick faults and the only thing I can think of is that it could be taller, and the cladding could be even more beautiful. But it's tall and beautiful as it is.

9/10 until they finish it, with a likely upgrade to 10/10. Best in world, probably.

I hate to nitpick, but it makes me want to pull my hair out when people do that...

That is Pudong...Lujiazui is a small zone in the entire Pudong District...

I'm not trying to be an a-hole at all, but I just think we should be a little bit more attentive at making that distinction.

Yes. I've been to Lujiazui, I know what it looks like. To put it short: it's an urban nightmare, for pedestrians anyway. On street level you begin to realize how spread out those big towers actually are. But the skyline looks great from far away, so I'm good.
And btw, Puxi is Shanghai's pulse, and also my favourite part of town.

Interesting. Maybe you missed the little fact, that 1WTC (along with several other New York projects) is one of the most criticised projects here on SSC ... and guess what - by Americans.

In the second photo, the pink area in Lujiazui closest to the river is the rough area in which this cluster is located.

Yeah, I still maintain People's Square is the "heart" of the city.

It is undeniably a beautiful tower, and that it's of such an unusual design and scale is entirely appropriate to its surroundings, and likely Shanghai generally...but I do think that the praise for this building is a teensy bit exaggerated. Just my opinion.

Anyway, I'm sure this has been asked and answered before, but who will be the primary office tenant, or is there going to be one?

It is with its huge red LED logo... and now we have this diamond building... Half of Lujiazui skyline is ruined by the corruption within the government.
