I think they fit quite well proportionally to each other. SWFC is about x1,3 of Jin Mao's roof height (which is what you have to count since it has a long slim spire), and the SC is about x1,3 of SWFC's roof height. It's a perfect "natural progression" actually.

EDIT:

370 (JM) x 1,33 ~ 492 (SWFC)
492 (SWFC) x 1,3 ~ 639 (SC)

Close enough!

For further illustration of this, check out this diagram (SC is even a bit too tall in that diagram - so it will look even more proportionate than that).

This tower looks even more complicated than the chicago spire. Very much odd angles and bendings involved in the structure.

What's so complicated with the Chicago Spire? It has a pretty proportional straightforward design imo.

there's been changes to the planned height and maybe he (or she) means that it wont be 632 metres tall which is the speciality about it. Pudong's ground is not the most suitable place for supergiagantictalls to be built. But surely can't be bad as desert ground like where burj dubai is built on, therfore 632 metres on pudong can be piece of cake if foundation is deep as deep.

I have no idea what the heigt limit would be there. The WFC is at least a good indicator of the possibilities.

Really impressive tower. The cladding looks really good. I like the open spaces between the floors and the cladding.

Actually the article just refers to the EIA 环境影响报告 that was posted on the environment website, which is an official confirmation. Whether or not a newspaper publishes something has no relevance to whether or not it is confirmed, newspapers in China are just as unreliable as anywhere else and they regularly get information wrong, particularly Shanghai Daily. If anyone has followed the Shanghai Disneyland news you'll know what i mean. The government screens media for political issues, whether or not information about an office building is published correctly is completely irrelevant for them.

The design looks very sleek & impressive, i like that it rotates around the core, and i also like the setback between facade and floorplates.
632 m is a quite impressive height, higher then both Chicago Spire and Russia Tower, so Shanghai Center will probably be the 2nd highest building in the world when finished.
Definetily this tower, especially when viewed in the cluster with Jin Mao and SWFC , will be a new landmark for Shanghai and for China and IMO one of the most impressive worldwide.

this is a beautiful building
i especially like the triangular rings twisting up the core
the only thing i dont understand, however,
is that helical gap in the cladding, making it look like a wrapped piece of paper
is that an open gap? if so, wouldnt that pose problems with the structure?
i do think it looks really really cool, i just dont know how it would work
