It's not just a building crown. It is also a "rainwater harvesting structure".

And I think they are going to install wind turbines on top of the roof.

And what about the tuned mass dumper? I already asked about that but nobody responded. Does really nobody know anything about the installation of it?

When you visit one city in UAE (Dubai), you can se 19 supertall building in just this city, thatīs good for citizen... When you would like to see all Chinese Supertalls, you must travel to many cities in China and spent fortune... Apart from UAE still has highest building, no extreme problems with smog and if Iīm not mistaken, Dubai is at the moment the most luxurious city in the world. The design of all supertalls is excellent... In any event, Iīd spent rather week in any Chinese city than in Dubai

They are still building the steel of the main building. I guess the ceremony was symbolic.

I have to agree - when the smog isn't blocking out Pudong.

In all seriousness, yes, what a wonderful piece of urban engineering. And not only that, but this new tower will definitely roll that trend of "build, build, build" right along.

Eventually they are going to run out of space in Pudong.

No, only the core topped out. The tower is still missing its whole crown.

Lol what a fuzz But should we be surprised? Chinese media confused everyone with this toping out ceremony. Because seriously it's not like this tower have flat roof with a spire, toping out could mean only one thing and that is toping of the crown structure, and they clearly stated "the last beam is being installed today". That is probably the greatest example of chinese propaganda in skyscraper field so far.
