Yes, I linked to that...
However, my point is that there is so much confusion when we try to draw comparisons between Shanghai because it's really odd in its organization.

If you click to the "core districts" link in that list, you get this:

Judging from this breakdown, they included the "inner suburbs" in the first table of Cities by population to get that 17 million figure...

The SWFC is okay, but not nearly as great as the Shanghai Tower. I like the World Lotte Center better than this (SWFC), and it sounds like some kind of coffee place.

These inner suburbs are pretty built up or interconnected. i think that 2,605.8km2 refers to the size of built-up areas (建成区) of Shanghai.

Definition of 建成区 in Chinese: (you may need a translation machine, i'm too lazy to do the dirty work)

Shanghai and NYC viewed from the same height, the dirts as built up areas:

Shanghai (from 200.38km above)

NYC (from 199.67km above)

I hope these pix would do...

That's crazy. The SWFC is mind-blowingly massive and this just towers over it.

The only building in the world that can really do this to Shanghai Tower is the Burj.

Well to be honest you can't even climb the burj enough tall to see shanghai tower from above unless you are technician repairing warning lights on the spire

Are those models to scale?Isn't ST more taller than SWFC than the models show?
I could be mistaken but can anyone confirm my doubts/suspicions?

I can't confirm, but I do think you're right. It already looks that much taller, and it still has the crown to go.
