I don't see there the Egyptian features. I guess it's rather something like mixed pagoda art deco style with a monumental high rise spire.

There are already plenty of symbols of Chinese tradition in Shanghai, I'd rather we just have a good design.

I'm surprised at the dislike for that, it was my personal 2nd after the chosen design. Nothing beats the dragon. I am psyched to see this so far along with the plot.

Bottom half of that design looks more or less like Taipei 101.

There's a lot of stuff being built there. Most of the constrution near the roundabout is for a new elevated walkway they are building which will have a ring around the roundabout and then a line down century avenue. There is also a new branch of the road tunnel being built that will join the yan'an road tunnel with a new tunnel called the east-west passage which will bypass a lot of lujiazui and make it quick to drive through to jinqiao. They're also modifying the subway entrance so it can connect easier with the elevated walkway as well as putting in supporting foundations for the new tunnel because eventually there will be another metro line (line 14 i think) running through lujiazui and i think also along the same route as the new road tunnel.

I think it looks a bit like a mix of the old San Francisco Tower and the Taipei 101... In my opinion there were better designs...

thats not the chosen design, in the picture a few posts up.

The final design is much better.

Maybe these renders don't do it justice but many of these pics of the final design look like different buildings to me. Is this building an asymmetrical shape? Because most of the pics look like a rolled-up newspaper that's been whacked around awhile.

Can't quite get my head around how some people prefer this:

to this:

But only matter of opinion, therefore I'm fine with it.

i dont think anyone does.

I think in real the first one might not turn out THAT bad, but there's no way it's better than the second one, the chosen one.

I you read above you in this page, like half of this entire forum prefers the first one. UUURRRGGGHHH. No judging, just contradicts my opinion.

Yes, another beautiful tower in Shanghai would be nice. By the way, anyone know why it seems so misty, is it pollution or is it the weather because i also notice the mist in Guangzhou as well. Hope it isn't pollution.
