That picture is so good. Chinese culture and everything.

Good work.

Architecture is moving forward everywhere. There's lots of old buildings in my city but the new ones look modern. Sometimes they clash but they can make it work if they want to.

I visited Shanghai way back in 1987 before all of these massive skyscrapers existed and it's worth noting that Shanghai has many elegant buildings that look very European due to the influences that existed over a half century ago and it's part of their architectural tradition which is a mix of western and Chinese styles. So what if there's western influences in Shanghai? I think they have one of the most interesting mixes of architecture of any city that I've visited and it's something they should be proud of. They've taken the skyscraper, which was originally developed primarily in America and reinvented it with some of the most bold and exciting designs that exist anywhere in the world and I'd certainly put Shanghai Tower very high on that list.

Ok, but you do realize this tower was designed by Gensler, an american company. So While I do agree with the general concept (the chinese furthering the development of skyscrapers) using the Shanghai Tower as an example for that statement is factually incorrect.

As for the rest, I agree. Should be visiting Shanghai soon, I've fallen in love with this city.

It's been a while already, the cladding works are cool but unlike many people here, beams and columns are what excite me the most.

Pudong lacks density IMO , the buildings are really beautiful and the skyline is futuristic , they need to build more fillers around the 3 giants and would be perfect !

^ Absolutely. On street level Pudong is by far less interesting compared to Puxi.

There isn't that much space next to the big three anymore.
